The collection consists of an oral interview and transcript. The interview was conducted on August 27, 1965 by an unidentified interviewer with John Gaw Meem, Will Shuster, and Karl Larsson. The focus of the conversation is the development of the Santa Fe art colony.The men discuss why they came to Santa Fe and describe the cultural and physical landscape at the time. Commentary relates to topics including the Taos Art Colony, the Depression, the goings on at Los Alamos, their insights on the future of Santa Fe's art colony, critique and commentary on the younger generation of artists, homogenization and globalization particularly regarding art and architecture.

Shuster was a prominent twentieth century artist in Santa Fe, New Mexico, who worked primarily as a painter and sculptor. He was a member of a Santa Fe artists group "Los Cinco Pintores."
